Victory in the Pennsylvania Supreme Court

In a unanimous opinion on an issue of first impression, the Pennsylvania Supreme Court has held that claimants under the Pennsylvania Whistleblower Law, who are unlawfully retaliated against by their employers for reporting waste and wrongdoing in their workplace, may recover the full extent of their damages, including non-economic harms such as emotional distress and mental anguish. The Court's opinion represents a significant development in the law protecting workplace whistleblowers and the public, and more importantly, is the culmination of a decade-long battle by my client, Ralph Bailets, to get the justice he and his family are due. Congratulations to Ralph, whose courage and fortitude, at great risk to himself and his family, has made the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania a better place to live and work.
